Community News: Salisbury Hospice Charity Christmas Tree Colllection a Success!

9th January 2018 |

Salisbury Hospice Charity once again offered a Christmas Tree Collection service for the local community in order to raise funds and U-Drive were pleased to be able to offer vehicle support!

Their fantastic team of volunteers, including those from Public Health England, expanded the collection area this year to include the SP1, SP2, SP3 and SP4 postcodes on the 5th, 6th and 7th January. They simply asked for a donation in exchange for collecting and recycling Christmas trees and Ockenden Tree Services kindly shredded all the collected trees.

Donations are still coming in and 90% of the money raised will go to Salisbury Hospice and 10% will go the the local charity, Headway Salisbury.

The Salisbury Hospice Charity is committed to raising over £1 million each year to ensure the future of the Hospice. Although the Hospice itself only has 10 in-patient beds, they care for over 180 patients, their families, and friends in Salisbury and the surrounding areas. The Charity funds over 60% of the services based at the Hospice and the rest is paid for by Government money - BUT without the Charity the Hospice would not exist.

Last year nearly £200,000 was raised through local fundraising activities. Without public support the hospice would not exist or survive, so support for activities such as the Christmas Tree Collection, are vital for raising funds.
