As Vehicle Damage Manger, I am responsible for overseeing all claims and damage involving U-Drives vehicle fleet. Despite an insurance background, the Self Drive Hire market was new to me. Having only been with U-Drive eight months, it’s been quite an eye opener. The old adage that no two days are the same is certainly true. Working with a significant degree of autonomy and instigating changes to streamline processes has shown me how receptive and approachable the senior management team are. By comparison to previous places of employment, U Drive is certainly a busy and fast paced environment, but at the same time we also know how to have fun. I started working at U-Drive in September of 2019 as an Accounts apprentice and after successfully passing level 3 AAT I have been offered a full-time position and the chance to do Level 4 AAT. Apprentice Mechanic, Poole Workshop [June 2021]
I first started here September 2019 to begin my 3 year mechanics apprenticeship. I was welcomed into the workshop by a great group of people who have helped and taught me everything I have needed to know in the 2 years I have been here. I have recently just completed my level 2 and about to start level 3. I have enjoyed every bit of it and have had all the support I have needed from everybody in the workshop. I should complete my apprenticeship within the next 18 months which will lead me on to becoming qualified and learning more.

My role within U-Drive is quite diverse, from managing the Admin Team to co-ordinating the maintenance requests and team to administrating HR processes. You can safely say that no day is the same – I can be sending out a New Starter pack one minute to organising a gully sucker for a blocked drain the next. Everyone I have encountered within U-Drive has been warm and friendly and always shown a willingness to help.

I have worked here for nearly 6 months and what an amazing company to work for. Management are always there to help and you only need to ask. Each day is different and you could be out driving or on the front desk but that’s part of the job and working as a team. You get all the training you need but you are always learning something new every day. Everyone is so friendly here and have all made me feel welcome since starting here.
